About this year group

Reading Books

Children are expected to read daily and the can read the same book more than once to build on their understanding and fluency.  School reading books will be changed every Tuesday.

Homework

Homework will be set every Monday and spelling tests will take place the following Monday. Please have a look on the home learning section of the website.

PE and Games

The children have PE on Tuesday and Wednesday. Children are able to wear their PE kits to school on those days. When it is cooler, please could children wear their team coloured PE T-shirt, long black trousers and black jacket/sweatshirt. In warmer weather children can wear plain black PE shorts with their team coloured PE T-shirt.

HAVING FUN and learning IN ALL WEATHERS

All children should have a weather appropriate coat in school every day.

Water bottles are kept in the classroom and children have access to their water throughout the day.

During the winter moths, we recommend children wear gloves and warm hats when outside to stay warm. Welly boots are welcome to be left in school, should you wish to. We will let you know if we are going on a welly walk or into the woods so you can bring these in.

In the summer months, we recommend that children bring in sunhats and sun cream. Children should have their sun cream before coming to school, in the morning, and we will support the children reapplying their sun cream before they go out at lunch time. Please do not send sunglasses into school unless they are prescription glasses.

In Autumn 2, Breakfast club will take place Oak class and is run by Miss Wells and Miss Slade. (Spring 1-Willow)

In Autumn 2, After-school club will take place in Cherry class and is run by Miss Wells. (Spring 1-Oak)

Our Anti-bullying Alliance group at Widey have so far raised over £400 completing a sponsored silence today between 9am and 3 on! We will release a final amount once it’s all in and counted. The money will go towards resources to help all children in the school with their emotions and provide a safe space for children to go during lunch time if they need it… watch this space! Well done team! Thank you to their families and friends for supporting this event and Miss Davies for organising it! 🤐⭐️🤐⭐️🤐⭐️🤐⭐️

‼️Red Nose Soya Allergy‼️ Good morning everyone! We have been made aware last night that the red noses have been made out of soya beans and we have a little girl in Oak Class who is allergic to soya. We would really appreciate your support in keeping our little friend safe today in light of this news. We will ensure today that, if red noses are brought in, we will keep them in the classroom and will wash hands / sanitise before leaving. Many thanks for your support with this! ❤️ We know we are in for a lovely day with red non-uniform day, Danceathon session in the hall and a yummy biscuit made by our wonderful Becky and the team! Raising money for a worthy cause! Thank you! 🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴

Today Year 5/6 were so engaged with the e-safety assembly and we’ve all taken away some important, key information about staying safe online! Please ask your child about it tonight! ⭐️✋📲✔️
